Welcome to the Electrical Exam Academy.

Founded 2012

If you are studying for your Electrical License. I want to help you pass. Email me Jim@nectesting.com

My intention is to create a website for people studying the NEC. A place you can come and study hard for your electrician test. I gather information from around the country by studying with people and getting them over the hump. I look forward to studying with you. Over 1616 practice exams have been taken on this site, so I have a pretty good idea of what you are struggling with. I have discovered that the reason most people finally pass is...

Speed.

These proven steps increase speed.

Let’s Get Started!

Note: if you don't have a code book (Rusty), google "free NFPA 70" and go to www.NFPA.org. You will have to jump through a few hoops and what you get is not the best for studying but it is the whole NFPA 70.

  • First thing to do---- Get your exam date. Really! Sometimes this is the hardest step. Call your State Electrical Board and make sure you are eligible and they have all your information. Don't rely on someone else!  This exam prep takes about 10 days or 35 hours so schedule your exam accordingly.

  • Second thing to do----Study "with your code book" the Electrical Exam Study Guide - This is an actual prep course. After reading each section you will be instructed to take an online quiz. I teach this exact course at night for members of my company that are having trouble passing the exam.

  • Third thing to do----Study these NEC practice quizzes CLICK HERE. These quizzes go along with the prep course but you could take each quiz individually and study the expert feedback. Take it slow and have plenty of time in a quite setting. The questions are delivered one at a time (like Pearson Vue and PSI). Take your time and get used to computer testing. Find each keyword in the index, before you answer.

  • Fourth thing to do---- E-mail me so we can set up a phone call and go over your Electrical Exam. Do this step early on so we can talk. I am about to go under contract which will make consulting $60 an hour so if you want to talk email soon. Jim@NECtesting.com. Read the Testimonials. "It's free (for now") what have you got to lose".

  • Fifth thing to do---- Send me a copy of your Electrical Exam Bulletin or failed test results. This lets me know you’re serious and lets you know what to study and what Reference Material you can use on your exam. Take a picture of it and e-mail it to me.

If you have any questions at any time my personal e-mail is Jim@NECtesting.com

Keep Scrolling Down

If you want to go over your exam this is what I need. Here is a

recent example of an Electrical Exam Bulletin and supporting reference material:

More things to do---- Read the Motor and Multifamily Study Guide. Just hover over "The Study Guides" above.

  • More things to do----Click Here to Watch example videos of the "Exam Day Experience at Pearson Vue" and an actual video of a ProV test being taken with instruction on how to use the computer. Find out what you need to know for the morning of the exam at Exam Day Breakdown.

  • More things to----Download the Ohm's Law App or make your own flashcards, and study electrical theory. I will have some help on this in the future. If you can't find it here find it somewhere. California, Texas, and Virginia I'm talking to you. You guys have a lot of Electrical Theory on your exams.

  • Now Click Here for the Guide to taking the practice exams.

  • Or Click Here and gain some knowledge about your States - Electrical Exam - about half way down this page is a list of states. Click on your test bulletin and read it.

Ohm's Law

Click Ohm’s Law to see the Android App I made for memorizing Ohm’s Law. Electrical Theory is part of all exams. If you have the formulas memorized it’s easier. I also use it as a quick reference in the field.
